Awards

It’s awards season and we’re nominated for 11 provincial and local awards!

August 13, 2019

It’s an exciting week for us here at Amsted — awards season is upon us and we’re up for a whopping 11 trophies! Announcements were made this week naming finalists for both the Greater Ottawa Home Builders’ Association Housing Design Awards and the Ontario Home Builders’ Association Awards of Distinction.

We’re incredibly proud to have five of our projects named finalists in nine categories. We’re also thrilled to be nominated once again as Renovator of the Year both locally and provincially, a title we are honored to have received 9-times combined. All of this is a testament to the faith our clients put in us, the creativity and professionalism of our team and the dedicated teamwork of our trade partners.

In the provincial awards, we’re competing against companies from across Ontario and there are just three finalists per category. We’re up for three awards provincially.

For the local Housing Design Awards, there were more than 300 entries this year, with a maximum of five projects making it through as finalists in each category. We have eight chances at trophies in these awards, plus the prestigious Ottawa Citizen People’s Choice Award.

What’s the People’s Choice?

In the first round of voting, we are up for “Housing Details”, for the unique and bold detailing in these two bathrooms (entry 501).

Winners will be announced this fall and over the next several weeks we’ll be introducing you to our nominated projects. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek at the finalists:

Rockcliffe Revamp

This stunning transformation with partners StyleHaus Interiors and Irpinia Kitchens brought modern updates throughout the home while retaining traditional touches. This project, which encompassed the entire main-floor living, a complete master ensuite redesign, and additional second floor updates, has been nominated for four awards.

A Car Enthusiast’s Dream… and Then Some

The made-over garage for this vintage car collector is designed to fit a hobbyist’s needs, but the commercial touches add to its functionality. This project included more than the garage, though — the whole-home renovation features a new open-concept kitchen and living room, updated dining room and redesigned bathrooms. It’s up for overall renovation awards locally and provincially.

Modern Yet Timeless

You can’t go wrong with classic white Shaker cabinets for a timeless look. Carefully add in black accents and the space feels modern and classic at the same time. We also removed a wall for a better connection to the family room. This project with partner Deslaurier Custom Cabinets is up for a local kitchen award.

Rustic Touch

A soft, cool colour palette injects brightness in a traditionally dark space, while use of natural materials makes the basement warm and inviting and the rustic touches throughout tie the spaces together. This project is up for Basement Renovation at the Housing Design Awards.

Perfectly Patterned

Powder Room

This one’s not a home, but it sure feels like it! Our Glebe Living Room Presentation Centre is our latest satellite office to bring us closer to our clients. In keeping with many of the Glebe’s century homes, our restoration stayed true to tradition. Adding some drama with a bold patterned wallpaper in the powder room earned us a nomination in that category in the Housing Design Awards.

We want to wish the best of luck to our fellow nominees and are keeping our fingers crossed for the awards galas this fall!
