What does it take to turn a choppy floor plan into a welcoming space made for entertaining that meets the needs of today’s families? A thoughtful and well-executed design that turned this hidden gem in Wellington West into a multi-award winner.
As is often the case, the story of this home starts with new owners who loved the location but were less than enamoured with its poor functionality.
A small addition and a rethink of the existing space allowed for the creation of a large, open-concept kitchen and family room, roomy formal dining room with butler’s pantry, easy access to the backyard and a sumptuous master ensuite.
The Arts and Crafts theme offers a welcoming warmth, both inside and on the refreshed exterior, and the design cleverly combines modern and traditional elements for a home that now works wonderfully for the family.

- The dining room was once the living room and features the same stone that’s on the exterior.
- The open kitchen now has a large island with seating and easy access to the backyard.
- Along with the kitchen, the family room straddles the back of the home, where the increased privacy is welcomed for daily living.
- Formerly a one-bathroom home, now the ensuite alone is a spa-like retreat with stand-alone tub and a generous walk-in shower.
- Before: Although cute and tidy, the home lacked presence.
- After: A welcoming face to the street.
