Every year staff from Amsted Design-Build and Restore-All Corporation make time to come together and volunteer for a weekend at Camp Smitty, a Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa initiative that ensures kids of all means have access to the summer camp experience.
This year’s team reached almost 80 people, as the companies were joined by several long-time partners, including Dumont Foundations & Interlock, McQuillan Electric, Kelly Santini LLP, Chartered Construction, and Chuck Mills Design. This team of staff, partners, along with their families, volunteered their time and skills to provide necessary upgrades to the Camp’s aging infrastructure.
Among the list of tasks accomplished, this hard-working group painted picnic tables and the Camp’s boat house, cemented basketball nets, created an accessible, well-lit outdoor dance floor, fixed up unsafe railings, designated pathways to the Camp’s ropes courses, stripped and reshingled a cabin roof, and built a 150 foot fence!
We thank again, our staff and families that attended, our valued partners who joined us or donated supplies, and the Camp’s staff for their support in making this a great weekend away.
For all the photos of this great weekend, visit the album on our Facebook page.
Thank you to Rona – Stittsville, Guillevin International, Cooper Lighting, Grandor Lumber, and Battlefield Equipment Rentals for donating supplies to make these projects happen.
