White kitchens stand the test of time because they are clean and fresh — and don’t risk becoming a passing fad (think avocado or harvest gold). While bold colours are exciting, there is a way of mixing the two that creates a recipe for a great space.
Holistic feng shui expert Laura Benko says there’s a reason you see so many white kitchens: light, bright colors evoke cleanliness and purity, which is the ideal feng shui for the kitchen.
But if you still like a bit of colour in your world, it’s easy to introduce in cost-effective ways. Using white cabinets as your backdrop, why not include a backsplash that pops, or a fresh colour on the walls? Both add some pop, but are easy to change out if you get tired of them.
