Can’t Get Enough of Kenilworth | Renovation Tour

Posted October 15, 2020

Home is where the heart is, so why not make it a space you love? That’s exactly what we did for the owners of Kenilworth. This newly-renovated dwelling showcases an open-concept kitchen, contemporary sunroom, updated living room, added powder room, redesigned staircase, and a fully finished basement.

The Main Floor

We replaced the old flooring with new hardwood fit with hydronic in-floor heating throughout the home. We opened up the space and added a stunning three-sided fireplace in the living room which is visible from virtually any room on the main floor.

The Stairs

The stairs were dark, cramped and caused traffic in the house. Our design-build team reconfigured and redesigned them with a mix of metal and glass to improve mobility and style from the basement to the second floor. We also made it so that the garage entrance would be more easily accessible.

The Powder Room

The new layout as well as the relocation of the stairs created space for a powder room. The use of a wall-mounted toilet and vanity with integrated lighting and mirror allowed for more empty floor space, making it appear larger than it is. The countertop space was maximized through the use of a pocket door and a wall-mounted faucet.

The Sunroom

What was once dark and dated, has been updated to a more contemporary space allowing hours of natural light to flood the kitchen. The old dark brown paint framing the windows has been swapped out for a sophisticated coat of black, giving the space a more refined and modern feel.

The Kitchen

Overlooking an award-winning backyard, the kitchen was reimagined as an entertainer’s dream featuring a gorgeous island adorned with high-end hardware and a luxury wine fridge.

With clients who love to cook, opening up the kitchen to ease mobility was essential. Taking down the wall between the dining area and the kitchen allowed for cleaner sightlines, more light and better flow. We increased their storage space by adding a cupboard to the ceiling and using built-in integrated appliances. Our team also added a downdraft hood fan to ensure that the sightline remains clear when not in use.

Get inspired to create a space you love (or get our team to do it for it). This is precisely what the owners of Kenilworth did. In fact, the owners had this to say, ” Amsted did an outstanding job designing and renovating our home. The interior design team is brilliant and very attentive to client needs. The quality of work is exceptional. The crew in charge of our home project were all very kind and professional. We would highly recommend Amsted to anyone considering renovating their home.”
